The financial hub of the country, Shanghai has been flourishing in the last decade thanks to the economic reforms instigated by the late Deng Xiao Ping. Living standards have improved dramatically - but at a heavy price. Accelerated de...

Sleek aerodynamic shapes and a collaborative work environment characterise new offices for a global technology company Trends editorial director Paul Taylor looks M Moser's office design for Envision in Shanghai Sleek, aerodynamic forms and a large, open floorplate create a free-flowing workplace for a company in the smart wind turbine business. Today's office environments place more and more emphasis on collaboration as their guiding principle -- doing away with the idea of splitting up teams into their own compartmentalized areas and encouraging a cross fertilization of ideas instead. When setting the brief for its new premises in Shanghai, Envision asked for a specific control room within the office for its engineers dealing with problems in the field. It's a global technology ...

Mandarin/Nat As Shanghai authorities try to solve the city's pollution problems, a local bike manufacturer believes it has come up with one solution. Yongjiu (Forever), one of China's most popular bicycle makers, has teamed up with a U-S company and designed an electric bicycle. Government officials are hopeful the new invention will replace gas-powered bikes and mopeds and help reduce pollution. Built in the 1920's by the French, English and other colonial powers, Shanghai has managed to maintain its charm and beauty. But the decision by the Chinese government to make Shanghai an international financial centre has prompted changes in the last few years. Travel video about destination Shanghai. Shanghai is a gigantic city that is a meeting point of both east and west. The shoreline is without a doubt the city's main focal point. The city is a combination of the past, present and future and contains the historic monuments and eye-catching buildings of a great metropolis. It was once referred to as 'The Whore of Asia', 'Capital of Crime', 'the Paris of the East' and 'The Centre of Maoism'. But today, the city is ruled by modern-thinking communists and the Yangzi Delta is not only China's largest port but also its new shining star of capitalism. The Oriental Pearl Tower is a mighty 468 metre high television tower that contains an entertainment centre, futuristic luxury hotel, fine restaurant and offers the most superb views across the city. ...

Wednesday, 3rd February 2010. Mumbai, India. Michel St Pierre, Director of Planning and Urban Design, Gensler, San Francisco / Shanghai presents at the 2010 Mumbai Conference. While the world notes Shanghai's prosperity, the city's vision may provide a model for other global cities to follow. The Shanghai 2010 expo theme emphasizes sustainability and livability. The challenge for Shanghai's 21st Century planning and urban design includes creating urban forms and development patterns that are homegrown and design that takes into account geography, climate, culture, history and responsibility for the environment. This presentation outlines some of these plans, including the Puxi District Master Plan and the 632-meter, 128-story mixed-use Shanghai tower that is a part of this plan.

Increasing happiness and prosperity by adjusting the energy of your living space with appropriate music Feng Shui literally means wind and water, and it represents the understanding of energy flow in our environment and how it affects people. Good Feng Shui creates a comfortable and cozy living environment, which results in good fortune. This series of music is composed based on the Chinese philosophy of five elements, including Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water, which date back to many thousand years ago. The five elements correspond to five pentatonic scales such as the Chueh, Jyy, Kung, Shang and Yu Tones in traditional Chinese music. Music carries vibrant frequencies that can resonate with the subtle energy in a space. Appropriate music enhances energy flow and helps to create a...

The Real Deal’s second annual U.S. Real Estate Showcase & Forum in Shanghai took place just one week after an election dominated by the subject of immigration. Speculation on Trump's future border policies became a part of every panel and conversation at the event -- naturally, the "EB-5 and U.S. Immigration" panel was no exception. TRD's managing web editor Hiten Samtani, who moderated the panel, opened by asking former Governor George Pataki what impact president-elect Trump could have on Chinese immigration. "There's a lot of misunderstanding on that," Gov. George Pataki said, "Donald Trump won for a lot of reasons -- one was his very strong stance against illegal immigration. And often, in the media and in the public, the distinction between legal and illegal immigration gets lost." ...

Dark Star Gaming hosts a Battlefield 4 Tour of Duty in a 32v32 player environment pitting two virtual armies including a rank system. DSG has dedicated Teamspeak server and is an international gaming community, not a clan. If you enjoy teamwork, check out DSG. Website: http://www.darkstar-gaming.com/ I will be streaming this in the future on Sundays around 12:00 noon central time. I will continue to upload here for those who are unable to watch. Hopefully it will be in a format that is watchable and similar to my recordings of the first few weeks. http://www.twitch.tv/southpaw_sin Check it out Intro music by: Meizong Raveyard http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWjEika_UZA
